Volunteering at Middle World Farms CIC
Volunteers have played a vital role in helping Middle World Farms take root and grow. Community support has enabled us to establish our ecological growing systems, expand biodiversity work, and produce food for our local area.
As the farm continues to develop — increasing production, education, and public access — we have introduced a more structured volunteer framework to ensure safeguarding, wellbeing, and a positive experience for everyone involved.
Our Volunteer Structure
- Most volunteering takes place on a day basis
- Sessions are supervised and scheduled
- Tasks are matched to ability and safety
- We operate clear safeguarding and conduct standards
Short, pre-agreed overnight stays may be available where they support structured educational placements or specific project work.

What You Could Help With
(Examples of tasks volunteers might do)
Volunteers support a wide range of activities including:
- Preparing and sowing beds
- Weeding, watering and plant care
- Harvesting and packing produce
- Helping with biodiversity projects
- Tool and site maintenance
- Supporting educational sessions
- Assisting at community events
🌿 Our Values
Volunteering at Middle World is about more than labour — it is about participation in a living system.
It is about:
- Learning ecological food growing rooted in soil biology
- Supporting biodiversity at every level — from microbes to mammals
- Building soil health rather than extracting from it
- Strengthening community resilience through shared effort

But it goes deeper than that.
We believe:
- The soil is alive.
- Food is a relationship, not a commodity.
- Biodiversity is not decoration — it is infrastructure.
- Community is built through shared responsibility.
When you volunteer here, you are not just helping with tasks.
You are:
- Contributing to long-term ecological regeneration
- Helping create a local food system that values biology over chemicals
- Supporting a model of farming that works with succession rather than control
- Participating in community ownership rather than corporate dependency
Middle World exists to demonstrate that food production can:
- Increase biodiversity rather than reduce it
- Improve soil carbon rather than deplete it
- Strengthen local economies rather than hollow them out
- Educate rather than exploit
Volunteering here means stepping into that philosophy.
It requires:
- Respect for living systems
- Reliability and commitment
- Willingness to learn
- Care for people and place
This is not just a farm.
It is a working ecological experiment in how land and community can thrive together.
If that resonates with you, you will feel at home here.
