Volunteer Policy

Middle World Farms CIC

Purpose

This policy outlines the structure and safeguarding framework for all volunteers working at Middle World Farms.

Our aim is to provide a safe, educational, and ecologically grounded volunteering environment that supports both community participation and professional standards.

Volunteer Structure

  • Volunteering is primarily day-based
  • Sessions are supervised by a designated lead
  • Work is scheduled in advance
  • Tasks are assigned based on suitability and safety

Overnight Stays

Short-term overnight stays may be permitted where they support:

  • Educational placements
  • Structured learning visits
  • Pre-agreed project work

All stays must be arranged in advance and are time-limited.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

We operate a duty of care toward all visitors, volunteers, and staff.

  • Zero-tolerance drug policy
  • No alcohol during working hours
  • Unsafe behaviour results in removal
  • Anyone under the influence will be asked to leave

Insurance

Volunteers are covered under public liability insurance only when signed in and working under supervision.

Pathway to Employment

Our long-term aim is to create paid employment through community investment as the farm grows.
