Middle World Farms CIC
Purpose
This policy outlines the structure and safeguarding framework for all volunteers working at Middle World Farms.
Our aim is to provide a safe, educational, and ecologically grounded volunteering environment that supports both community participation and professional standards.
Volunteer Structure
- Volunteering is primarily day-based
- Sessions are supervised by a designated lead
- Work is scheduled in advance
- Tasks are assigned based on suitability and safety
Overnight Stays
Short-term overnight stays may be permitted where they support:
- Educational placements
- Structured learning visits
- Pre-agreed project work
All stays must be arranged in advance and are time-limited.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
We operate a duty of care toward all visitors, volunteers, and staff.
Zero Tolerance. Illegal drugs and substance misuse are not permitted on site. Anyone under the influence will be asked to leave immediately.
- No alcohol during working hours
- Unsafe behaviour results in removal from site
- Safeguarding concerns must be reported to the farm lead immediately
Insurance
Volunteers are covered under public liability insurance only when signed in and working under supervision.
Pathway to Employment
Our long-term aim is to create paid employment through community investment as the farm grows.
