At Middle World Farms, we are committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone who visits, works, or participates in our activities. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all staff, volunteers, visitors, and programme participants. By adhering to these guidelines, we create a positive atmosphere where everyone can enjoy and benefit from their experience on the farm.

For Volunteers: If you’re volunteering with us, please also review our Volunteer Code of Conduct, which includes additional volunteer-specific guidelines and a digital agreement form.

1. Respect for All

Treat all individuals with respect, kindness, and dignity, regardless of their background, abilities, beliefs, or opinions.
Refrain from using discriminatory, offensive, or abusive language or behaviour.
Listen actively and value each person’s contribution to conversations, activities, and decision-making processes.

2. Safety and Well-being

Follow all health and safety guidelines provided by staff and adhere to posted signs or instructions.
Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or accidents to a staff member immediately.
Avoid any behaviour that could endanger the safety of others, such as reckless actions or ignoring safety rules.

3. Boundaries and Privacy

Respect personal boundaries and physical space, especially with children, young adults, and vulnerable individuals.
Do not engage in inappropriate physical contact or invasive behaviour.
Keep all personal and safeguarding information confidential and only share it on a need-to-know basis.

4. Professionalism and Integrity

Act in a responsible and professional manner at all times, especially when representing Middle World Farms.
Be honest and transparent in all interactions and communications.
Take responsibility for your actions and be open to feedback or guidance from staff or volunteers.

5. Commitment to Safeguarding

Understand and adhere to Middle World Farms’ safeguarding policies and procedures.
Be aware of the signs of potential abuse, neglect, or harm, and report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Avoid one-on-one situations with children, young adults, or vulnerable individuals where possible, and always maintain appropriate boundaries.

6. Respect for Property and Environment

Treat farm equipment, tools, and property with care and respect, returning items to their designated place after use.
Keep the farm grounds clean and dispose of waste responsibly.
Protect the natural environment by following sustainable practices and avoiding harm to plants, animals, and habitats.

7. Inclusive and Positive Participation

Welcome and support others in their participation, encouraging an inclusive and positive atmosphere.
Avoid disruptive or distracting behaviour that may negatively impact others’ experiences.
Be open to learning and growing, and support others in their personal development and learning journeys.

Breaches of the Code of Conduct

Any breaches of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously. Middle World Farms reserves the right to take appropriate action, including warnings, suspensions, or, in severe cases, barring individuals from participation in our programmes or presence on the farm.
