At Middle World Farms, we are dedicated to providing fresh, local produce that is grown in harmony with nature. Our biodynamic farming methods ensure that you and your family receive the highest quality vegetables, straight from our farm to your table. If you can pay more each month we will use that money to subsidise lower income families. If your on a low income please use the from below. We will then get back to you with a discount code for or veg boxes. You will not get seconds you will be able to collect or delivery just the same as everyone else.

The Veg

Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a radical approach to the production and supply of food that builds strong, close and mutually beneficial partnerships between communities and producers. It’s defined as a partnership between farmers and consumers in which the responsibilities, risks and rewards of farming are shared.

At Middle World Farms we’ve adopted the CSA model to bring this new dynamic of food production to the heart of Lincolnshire.

Our methods provide you with fresh, local produce that’s grown in harmony with nature without chemical inputs.

All of this means that our veg boxes are not only delicious, but they provide a powerful yet easy way to support the climate, biodiversity, the local community and your health all at once!

I was really pleased to hear about the farm early in 2022 and took a punt in signing up for the year. I didn’t really know what to expect but I loved the idea of local produce (we are an agricultural county after all!) and so I took a trip down to Middle World to have a look and was blown away by the ambition and enthusiasm there.

Looking back, my experience through the year was better than I could ever have hoped.

The variety of vegetables (and herbs) was great and the quality was amazing – the taste and texture was remarkable and the length of time I could keep things for really surprised me. I was also lucky in that I knew how much I spent on these products in a typical week and so I could see that in switching to a Middle World box I was definitely getting a wider variety AND better quality for less than I had been spending at the supermarket.

I’m definitely signing up again for 2023 and my plan is to try and get a few of us from the village (Dunston) to sign up so that we can share collection duties.

Delivery

We appreciate not everyone is able to collect, so we can deliver your box for £4.00 per week.
Our 47-week year is spaced out over 40 deliveries due to out of season boxes delivered every two weeks.

Annual delivery cost = £160

Monthly delivery cost = £17

The winter months are where our story begins.

Bed preparation is a major job where we add compost to the beds and put the covers on to protect against erosion and weeds. Crop planning for the coming season, ordering the seeds, buying in the potting mix all needs doing at this time of year. In 2023 we are going year-round so all this will need doing whilst we continue to feed you through winter and spring.

Your early support at this time of year gives us the chance to be fully prepared with the information we need on how much to plant.

With Middle world only having 2.5 acres, we are not recognised as a farm by DEFRA. This means we do not get basic farm payments from DEFRA. Early support form CSA members is how we finance the winter expense of the farm and ensuring we are ready to fill your boxes every week with fresh, high nutrient dense food.

Being only our 3rd year, your support is still critical for our continued success.

FAQs

What will I get? See the ‘typical box’ diary for what grows ‘seasonally’. We’re weather dependent of course so this might move around a bit but you’ll have a good varied box each week.
How much choice will I have? If there’s something you really don’t want we can swap it out for you (but we hope you’ll try everything!)
When can I collect? you can collect from the farm on Saturday afternoon between 14:00 and 16:00. Bear in mind that we harvest to order so it really helps us to know who is coming and when.
What if I’m away for a week or two? Just let us know and you can send a friend down to collect instead. Or you can make a donation to Mint Lane cafe for the homeless
How many subscribers will there be? We’re aiming for 50 in 2023, we can accommodate more but that’s our target.
Why should I sign up early? Honestly – because it really helps us to plan the year ahead and commit to developing the farm. We don’t want to grow more than we need and so knowing up front who we’re growing for is part of our planning.
